Customer Acquisition Lead

You'd be our first commercial hire. The job is to build the customer base from nothing. Most of your week is at counters, showing shop owners Hisabi and staying with each one until they're trading on it without you. Along the way you'll work out what actually works: which shops say yes, which pitch lands, and what keeps them using it. That becomes how we sell.

• Mornings in the field: shop visits, counter demos, signing up merchants and setting them up properly before you leave
• Following up on every merchant signed in the last 30 days
• Logging every visit, objection and outcome the same day
• Short videos from the field for TikTok, Reels and Facebook, and turning the serious DMs into visits
• A daily check-in with the founder, weekly time on the numbers
• Building the referral channel and testing new ones: WhatsApp groups, SACCOs, distributors, agent networks
• Helping hire and train the next sales reps once things are working

• Two or more years in field sales, selling something to shop owners or small businesses in Kenya
• You've carried a monthly target before, hit it more often than not, and can tell us honestly about the months you didn't
• Comfortable walking into a shop you've never been in and starting a conversation with the owner
• You follow up. If a merchant signs up but hasn't made a sale on Hisabi yet, you go back and get them started
• Fluent in English and Kiswahili, and you can talk numbers with a shopkeeper in either
• You keep simple records: who you visited, what they said, what happens next
• Self-driven. You can plan your own week and we'll see the results
• Ambitious, organised and professional with customers and colleagues

• You've sold a product shops pay for every month: airtime float, POS, insurance, a loan product, a delivery service
• Time at a fintech, mobile money agent network, microfinance, SACCO or FMCG distributor
• You already know shopkeepers in Nairobi who would take your call
• You've trained or led a couple of junior sales agents before
• You can ride a motorbike, or don't mind matatus and a lot of walking

A diploma or degree is nice but not required. We care what you've sold, to whom, and whether they stayed.
